A missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana, Maulvi Aleem Mehmood, has stressed on the importance of financial sacrifices for the growth of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community particularly, reflecting on the examples of the early converts.
Despite immense financial difficulties faced during their era Maulvi Aleem said, these companions of the Promised Messiah made no two ways about making financial sacrifices for the progress of the Jam’at. Notable amongst them was Hadzrat Maulana Hakeem Nurudeen, who later became the 1st Khalifa.
He said, Hadzrat Hakeem Nurudeen made enormous sacrifices for the cause of Islam Ahmadiyya. He once said that he would sacrifice all his belongings if the Promised Messiah asked him to.
His generosity towards the Jam’at impressed the Promised Messiah so much that he would often say to the congregants to imitate the sacrificial ways of Hadzrat Hakeem Nurudeen.
Also was the sacrifice of Dr Rashid Sahib who made extraordinary financial sacrifices to the Jam’at. The Promised Messiah once appealed for financial assistance just when he had received his pay check and Dr Rashid sacrificed it all though his family needed the money.
Dr Rashid Sahib is known to have said that If a man like the Promised Messiah has made such big claim then it must not be false and so he would make any sacrifice for the progress of the Jam’at.
Maulvi Aleem Mehmood also recounted some sacrifices made by the women to support the propagation of Islam Ahmadiyya. Some remarkable contribution was that of the wife of the Promised Messiah, Hadzrat Sayeeda Nuzrat Jehan Begum Sahiba. She is noted for her remarkable sacrifice towards the establishment and maintenance of the kitchen built to feed the followers of the Promised Messiah.
She is known to have sold her jewelleries to sustain the kitchen at the time of difficulty in the Jam’at.
Lajna is known to have contributed exclusively to build four mosques, including the first Ahmadiyya mosque in London. Financial sacrifices in the Jam’at are rooted to have begun with the companions of the Promised Messiah who gave their all willingly, knowing well the benefits of these sacrifices to ensure the mission flourishes. These sacrifices was crucial in spreading the message of Islam Ahmadiyya to other corners of the world.
